Kite JournalFriday December 6th, 2013Reving In The Parkan actual revolutionI had a chance to fly at lunch today. It was another one of those day where the wind is strong all morning but then drops off and becomes inconsistent. There were a couple of people practicing tennis but otherwise the park was empty when I pulled into the parking lot. I finished my sandwich in the car while watching the trees for signs of wind. I saw the moss blowing fairly strong for a few seconds. The next time I looked the moss was blowing fairly strong in the complete opposite direction. This park doesn't do well when the wind is coming from the south due to the tree line. I accepted the challenge and headed for the field. br! I carried the B-series as well as pipe dream just incase the wind came back but the pipe dream was the chosen kite of the day of course. Flying with the B-series handles on 30 foot lines it was hard to not have fun even with the very light wind. Staying aloft for more than a minute at a time proved a challenge, but at one point when the wind was nil, I was able to pull the kite in a complete 360 degree circle while walking backwards in a little circle. I've been able to throw launch easily on these 30ft lines. The circle and throwing to launch made the short session quite fun.
