Kite JournalMonday August 26th, 2013Reving Up The Dark Sideit was forty years ago today ...![]() Having been stymied by the weather with storms or lack of wind for weeks now, I watched as the palms swayed convincingly all morning long. By lunchtime I couldn't wait any longer and headed to the field. The Krystals and most of the fries were consumed before the car was parked and I was out on the grassy field in no time. Setup was quick and before I knew it the Rev was in the air on 80 foot lines. Awesome! The wind was mostly cooperative with only a little lull in there for time to time. There was definitely some Quad-line jonesin' going on so it was great to get out and stretch out the Spectra a bit. Revolution... there is no substitute! My music choice today was Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon. Not my usual choice but my playlist needs a little work so I went with an album. Turns out today is the 40th anniversary of the release of Dark Side, so I made an excellent choice, although I have to say I had no idea at the time. Today is the first day of Burning Man and how cool it must be out there on the desert floor today. The arts festival has continued to grow over the years and may reach more than 65 thousand participants by the time the man burns on Saturday night. Be safe out there everyone! |
