Kite JournalThursday May 12th, 2016The Tale Of The Dragonnary a breezeWell, there wasn't much time and there wasn't much wind but off I went in search of space to fly a dragon. The first two parks were full of baseball crowds and cars but I found some space at Little Rain Lake on the football field away from the baseball game. I setup the flow-tail anchored to the goal post and waited for the return of the breeze I had felt 5 minutes earlier. At first it seemed the last gasp had already happened, then the kite started to lift. In a minute the flow-tail was 80 feet up and ready to pull. A quick unbagging of the dragon and snap the bridle on the line and ... oh rats, the flow-tail is on the ground. when did that happen! Another 5 mins and the wind returned. Launch the flow-tail, check. help the dragon take in air at the mouth, check. Hold a wing and help it inflate, check. It started filling with air quickly considering how soft the wind pressure was. I left it to continue filling and dashed to the car for the camera. It was dark and the pic is blurry but you can see that the dragon had a filled quite a bit. It was the last second of wind as the flow-tail floated down to the ground. The zippers were used to help deflate the wings and everything was bagged on the dark field as the baseball lights turned off and the last of the crowd left the parking lot. Only a few minutes of flying but well worth the trek to the field. Rain expected tomrorrow but there is a dry windy forcast for the weekend! ![]() ![]() |
