Kite JournalSaturday June 15th, 2013And Running Running ...ok, so it stopped for little bit ;-)Well, After nearly two weeks of no journal entries and right after I said the journal drought would stop here and now, I ended up having no entries for ten days. ( I am writing this on Tuesday June 25th ) I do have an excuse ... I was on vacation! Ok, I really had planned to keep things up to date on my time off, but relaxing is hard work, and trying to document relaxing is darn near impossible while you are relaxing. Poor excuses but I stand by them for now. Much has happened over those quickly passed ten days and I plan to fill in the journal entries with my notes but it will probably take a few more days until everything is complete. Finally at the beach! A nice three hour drive through just a bit of rain and we arrived at our home away from home. We made it down for a walk on the beach a little before sunset. I grabbed the Prism Switch case and brought it along. It had arrived earlier in the week so it was time for a maiden flight. ![]() The Switch is a nice looking kite and certainly has the Prism quality built in. The case makes it easy to carry along and it holds both sets of line so you don't have to decide if you're flying it as a single line or a dual line until you're out in the field. ![]() I didn't get a chance to fly using the dual line setup but it was fun as a single line even with the light wind. This kite seems bigger than its three foot two inch width but it also seems a tad on the heavy side. I will have to weigh it when I get a chance. Nonetheless it flew in sub-five mile per hour wind even with its forty-foot tail. ![]() Prism says the low end range for the kite is eight miles per hour and that matches how it acted. So this is not a low wind kite. You could drop the tail and try it as a fighter kite I suppose but otherwise you're gonna want a decent breeze for this one. The evening came quick and we walked a bit more. Then back to the room to call out for dinner. ![]() Since we visit this area a couple of times a year we have built up quite a list of favorite restaurants over time. It's always a challenge to fit in everything so once of the first things we do when we get settled is to order a Beach Pizza. That way if there's a break in the schedule later in the week, we can get pizza a second time. It's always the first target on the list. ![]() That was a good one, I assure you! |
