Kite JournalWednesday April 10th, 2013Reflectionponder the possibilitiesIt's been another day where the wind rages on and on... right up until lunchtime. That's ok, plenty of flying to come but it sure woulda been nice, it's a beautiful day in Gainesville, Florida. That's ok indeed. It's nice to have some time to just sit back and ponder what has happened recently and what is to come. Lots of fun ahead, that's for sure. Now those cool people that trekked out to the dry lake bed to kite buggy and otherwise enjoy the fun are starting to head back to their starting points. I see many cool pictures in the newsgroups and on facebook. Sure sounds like much fun was had, with reports of sixty mile per hour speeds and pictures of buggies flying high after going up a large wooden ramp. That had to be a crazy week, I must attend that gathering one day. If you havent seen the video yet, check out our current "video of the day". There is another video as well, I will post it soon. Credit for the videos lies elsewhere as they are not ours, even though i embedded it. It belongs to Bob Muse, aka. Beamer Bob. I finished Spike a few days ago and we are really looking forward to seeing him out in the sunshine bouncing on his (or her) leash. I will soon update my sewing projects page (currently found in the den), but for now they are just an unsorted collection of pictures. It's weird that I have already done seven sewing projects, seems like i just started but I guess time is clipping by as it does. Actually, one project is not yet finished, the little clown fish. So, of course i immediately started up back on that project the second Spike was done. I couldn't resist. I started out making the clown fish way too small, and i am using nylon fabric from joanns, so it's definitely a practice project for sure. nonetheless i want to finish it so i started cutting the final pieces and should be ready to sew tonight. I am looking forward to seeing what it ends up looking like, I started the project when i was still using scissors to cut the fabric so there was lots of hemming. Now i am down to the stripes and fins and the hot cutting came at the perfect time to help move things along. Like I say, I don't really expect much when it's complete, other than some lessons on how to make a big one, but it will still be pretty cool and hopefully it can fly at base camp when it's all said and done. Ok, one more thing.... a site change. I created a new page and menu tab called "Kite Making" that all this will fall under once i get things cleaned up a bit. It's fun to add a new menu item as windstock continues to slowly fill in little by little. More to come. |
