Kite JournalSunday March 10th, 2013In Stitches...A New Kite For The Quiver!Ok, Well, There's a new kite in the quiver, i walked it over directly from the factory! I was practicing sewing and the next thing i knew, there was a kite in front of me. Now this is really getting interesting!!! ![]() I suspect that this kite won't hold up well to heavy winds or much abuse at all, but that's ok! I suspect it will do ok, but the seams are a bit iffy once you pull hard on them. Looks like I definitly need to do some hot cutting of the ripstop. It tends to unravel the same way nylon line will. Live and learn. I have plans for another foil very soon, i will try my hand at hot cutting for that project. Meanwhile... there's a new project on the table ...
So... a Clownfish! or should I say Sew... ok, ok ... anyway, we have started on a clownfish. I say we, because even though I am the one at the machine, much help and understanding from my family sure contributes immensely to the work at hand. I probably should have started with my hot cutting on this project, but I couldn't stop myself from jumping on the next project. I printed the fish at twice the size of eight and a half by eleven inch paper, but it's still quite small. Great sewing practice and a good evaluation of the clownfish plan before the inevitable try at a much larger attempt. |
