Kite JournalWednesday February 27th, 2013Happy Birthday Mom!Well, what can I say... I think I just might be a sewing junkie! I couldn't let it go and had to find a little sewing project again last night. So far i have practiced with some cotton cloth resulting in a little parachute. Then I cut and sewed a little bol out of ripstop, and then last night's little chute as well. I have no idea what tonight will bring, but I am eyeing a plan for a little parafoil, we shall see. Ok ... so the sewing started last week after dusting off the sewing machine and learning how to thread it. As soon as I pressed on the pedal, i was hooked. What fun! I went to walmart and picked up some thread and a cheap black sheet and started plating with the machine and its various stitches. Then came the trip to JoAnn's Fabric Store. ![]() It's probably fair to say that i was the only guy in there looking for kite materials. In fact, I was the only guy in there at all. Seems guys can get some fairly interesting looks walking around a fabric store. So that was fun all on its own. I found the ripstop and they have a small array of colors, but it all seems to the 1.5 oz or maybe a tad heavier. I would prefer some .75 oz, but I will have to go to the web for that. So I grabbed a couple of yards of white ripstop and some thread and a seam ripper and headed out. More soon... |
