Kite JournalThursday January 31st, 2013A Fresh Cool BreezeJanuary goes bye in a puffIt seems like just a minute ago that the year was starting and now January is all but done. That was a quick one. This last day of January brings in a bit of cold, but down here that means It got down to maybe forty. Tonight it might get close to freezing. Winter is giving it a go, I suppose, but we certainly can't complain. Today was beautiful. I definitly wanted some more time flying my Revolution kite, after getting a taste of some wind yesterday and then having to stop early due to the crash with the delta kite. I had thought that I had missed out on the good strong wind, as yesterday was one of the windiest days in a while. But today proved to be ideal, as I watched the palms wave all morning outside work. It was mid afternoon before I finally headed to lunch and the wind was still steady and blowing from the west. I swung thru the mcd and was walking across the park ten minutes later. I set up the SLE since the B-series was in the shop, as it were. One hundred and twenty foot lines attached to the standard handles. The wind once again began to shift like it had the day before, but then it went back to where it should be. Today it is blowing from the west, or maybe west, northwest. That is the only side of the park without a treeline, and the wind is spilling in perfectly. The wind continued to build the entire time i flew. it was about eight miles per hour when i arrived and mist have been ten or more by the time i left. As the wind spread up, i could hear the high pitched whine of a dog. It was in the dog park and was really wanting to do something about my kite. about that time, a couple of kids ran over and were chasing the rev back and forth across the wind window. Time flew by, and I was late getting back to work. A very nice hour at the park, I would have flown til dark if I had had my druthers.
