kites in the night

Wow, it's finally here!

After two weeks of warm weather, we woke to the coldest morning of the year. But that was only one night, things are supposed to warm back up. And we are heading south so that will help too.

Traffic cruised at around eighty two miles per hour as we headed down I-75 headed for Treasure Island. Over in the far right lane I see a SMART car speeding past the semis at more than eighty five miles per hour. It was a little surreal.

Three hours past quickly and then there's the signpost up ahead, next stop, the Treasure Island Kite Festival.

We made it to our room with about an hour of daylight left. It's overcast and very windy. it's an offshore NNE wind so It's going to be a bit turbulent rolling over the hotels to the beach. But it's definitly blowing, that's for sure.

The beach was empty except for the event tent and a couple of trucks, one with a trailer. Soon there were some kites with glow sticks and LED lights being set up. We eventually went down and talked with one flier and Morgan even had a chance to fly this one for a brief time!

Later about six revs with lights glowing, gave a show for more than an hour, Revs playing in the dark is just as much fun to watch as Revs playing in the day, with the added fun of lights. Ok, I joke, but you get the idea, they were darn cool.

It's time to sleep, there's a festival tomorrow.
